Easily missed unless you're in the know, Pila ski resort is a family-friendly alpine ski village right at the heart of Italy's Aosta Valley. Savvy locals from Turin and Milan flock here for ski weekends, but book a mid-week break, and you’ll be gliding through the quiet snow-dusted pine forests in near solitude.

The easy-to-reach nursery area and bunny slopes will keep mini skiers entertained all day long on a Pila ski holiday, and freeride fans can slip and slide through the 70km of powdery off-piste woodlands.

With Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn looming on the horizon, the vistas here are nothing short of out of this world. And with plenty of hotels here ski-in/ski-out, it’s always no more than a couple of minutes' walk to the closest lift. Bellissimo!
